What happens in a day

Two years ago today—October 12—Mom was in the hospital following her surgery. It was a Sunday, and the doctors had taken her off the ventilator. They encouraged us to try to get her to eat, and we did manage to get some oatmeal down her. Most of the surgery drugs had worn off, and things looked pretty good.
