Goldilocks, he ain’t

Goldilocks finally found a bed and some porridge and something else (?) that was “just right.”  Didn’t she?

I helped Husband outside today, which meant I had the distinct displeasure of operating the tractor.  Specifically, I was moving dirt from a large pile and delivering it to low spots in the yard.

It started out easy enough.  “Go get a load and dump it here.”  Repeat.  Repeat.

Then things got tricky.   “Go get a load and…mumble mumble mumble…spread it here.”

I have a hard time hearing him over the tractor, and besides — I’m a girl!  What do I know about operating a bucket and a box blade while finding high gear, low gear, reverse, and 8 forward speeds?  🙄

  • “Your bucket is too full.”
  • “Your bucket isn’t full enough.”
  • “This isn’t the dirt I wanted. Get it from the other end of the pile.”
  • “You’re dumping too soon.”

“You’re dumping too late.”

And so it went, just as it always goes when I have to operate that dang thing. Well, except this time I didn’t throw the keys at him.

Out of about 40 loads, I got those first 3 right — the ones where he just wanted a load dumped in the general vicinity of where he pointed.  I kept thinking I’d get a “thumbs up” to indicate that one of loads was just right.

Goldilocks, he ain’t. 😡

Brittta, I was thinking the other day that YOU should start a blog! I loved your kid stories! 🙂

I can just see myself trying to direct Mrs. Mizz while she was on a tractor. Somehow, I really doubt she’d throw the keys at me though. Stuff them up my….. well, you know ……….. but THROW them ………… nah …… she wouldn’t do that.

If I know Burlie, it’s only done right if he does it himself. But you can feel good about the fact that he let you do it in the first place. He has confidence that you’ll do it almost as good as he could!!
