Go ahead…make stuff up…

I am in a vulnerable position.  I can be easily fooled because I am ignorant.  So go ahead…make stuff up…

We live about two miles south of Enid.  We are ONE mile east of Highway 81, which goes to Waukomis, Hennessey, etc.  WHY is that important?

Well, it seems that the Enid News and Eagle (our local newspaper) can no longer afford to deliver our newspaper.  In fact, 20 households in our area recently received a form letter from the newspaper saying we were being “cut off” from distribution because it is simply too expensive to deliver here.  😡

Hmmmm.  When gas was pushing $4.00/gallon, they delivered just fine.  Today, gas is $1.37/gallon, but they can’t afford to deliver to these 20 homes.

And let’s see—they drive down Highway 81 and deliver in Waukomis.  They drive down Highway 81 and deliver in Hennessey.  But some idiot at the newspaper office decided that they can’t drive one mile off the highway and deliver to MY house!

Rant over.  My point is, you can make stuff up and I won’t know the difference.  Tell me the Garfield County courthouse burned to the ground.  Tell me the city is broke.  Tell me Vance Air Force Base is closing.  (Did I mention I am so close to Vance that on a calm day, I can hear their morning and evening music broadcast over their speakers?)

But wait—the newspaper did offer to hold our paper at their office every day.  We just have to drive there and pick it up…and it will cost the same as home delivery. 🙄

Then they really went out on a limb and offered to stick it in a tube one mile north of us.  We just have to drive there and pick it up…and it will cost the same as home delivery.  🙄

I have been fuming about this newspaper issue for several weeks now.  I think instead of blogging, I need to send a letter to the editor.  What are the odds THAT will get published?  😉

I feel your pain. The Daily Oklahoman decided it was not in their best interest to deliver to our NW area. Not even to the Mini Marts or anywhere. So now we get day old news.

Cheri, a lot of times we didn’t read the paper for a day or two anyway. But it was HERE. And it was OUR choice to read it or not.
I told husband maybe it will be like high speed Internet and a garbage disposal. After awhile, we’ll forget what it was like to have it and won’t miss it. 🙂
