A warm tush

I love certain childhood memories…the kind that make me feel warm all over.  One in particular does because—well, it involves a floor furnace.  🙄

When I was a kid, I loved standing over the floor furnace in the winter while wearing a nightgown.  The hot air rose from the grates and filled my gown, warming my tush and making my gown pouf out.

We moved when I was in 7th grade.  Our next house didn’t have a floor furnace, but it had a fake fireplace with gas logs in it.  I remember one morning before school, I backed up next to it trying to warm my tush.  My dad walked into the room, grabbed me, and started swatting me!  Apparently I had been standing a little too close and didn’t realize my gown was on fire.  😯  Okay, so that part isn’t such a great memory.  😆

Few people have floor furnaces these days.  I have an electric heater in the garage and sometimes in the winter I will stand over it and let the hot air rise up and warm my tush—just like in the old days.  It doesn’t make my gown pouf out so much anymore because my body does that.  Still, it’s a fun thing to remember.  😉
