Milestone birthdays

I was talking with someone this morning about significant birthdays—those that end in a zero—because she turns 50 today.

She asked me if turning 40 was traumatic.  Hmmmm.  I said, “I guess not.  I don’t remember turning 40.”  🙄

Then she asked if turning 30 was traumatic.  Hmmmm.  “I can’t remember turning 30 either.”  🙄

I thought about it a minute and couldn’t remember turning 50.  I said, “Gee, how sad that I can’t remember something that happened a month ago!”  Then I realized that it was a year and a month ago.  🙄

I used to think forgetfulness was a bad thing.  But if those milestone birthdays were traumatic and I can’t remember them (and can’t even remember when they happened), maybe forgetfulness isn’t so bad after all. 😕
