Loan Apps for Dummies

We (I) recently filled out loan papers to refinance our house. Now, I’ve filled out plenty of loan applications in my lifetime—always without a hitch. But these darn papers were dreaduful!
When I had as much completed as I could, I called the mortgage loan processor to ask, “What about this line? What do I put on this other line? What is this one asking for?”
For nearly every question I asked, she said, “Oh, just skip that part.”
HUH? Why do they have stuff on there if they don’t need it filled out? Is this some new rule as a result of the mortgage loan crisis—that they ask a bunch of oddly-worded questions that they don’t really need answers to? 🙄 Regardless, I finished it as best I could…and we are on to the next step.
Either loan apps are getting harder or I’m getting dumber with age. I’m not sure which. And I’m not asking for opinions. 😀
