I’m sick…and I don’t need a doctor…

I think most people know that they are sick before they ever get diagnosed.  Not sure if it’s instinct or gut feeling or something else… but I think people just *know* that something isn’t right.

Well, I don’t a diagnosis to tell me something is wrong—or what it is.  I’ve known for a couple of months, and it isn’t’ getting any better.

Friends and family: I have a very bad case of “I don’t wanna-itis.” My first symptoms started just after the first my Bahamas cruise.  I tried to shrug them off and keep my nose to the grindstone: doing the things I knew I had to do. But it got increasingly harder every day to work, to do dishes, to do anything.

Oh, sure. I made myself do stuff. But even as I did, I didn’t wanna. And I still don’t wanna.  But I do what I gotta do coz I gotta…and because I have to pay for the next cruise.

So what’s the cure in the meantime?  I don’t know.  But it’s not a doctor. I think I just need a nap. Or the winning lottery ticket.  Yeah, that would perk me up!

OK Reet…if I win the lottery I’ll give you money for the cruise too. Now you have 2 chances!! But I think your problem is time….there’s so much of it before the next cruise. Girlfriend, I want you to quit wishing it away it’s going by fast enough…don’t you think?

I am thinking you might be of the lost tribe of the Pennsylvania native people’s Lenape nation—they have a word ‘lackawanna’ and I think that’s suits you about now. (Means something like ‘stream that forks.’)

So sorry the lackawanna’s got you! I feel your, uh, hmm, apathy.

    Lackawanna. I don’t wanna-itis.
    Same thing.

    And it’s truly not cruise related… just a mid-life funk, I guess.

I looked at it and wondered—is retread the same thing as retired?
