Think ya gotta go? Think again…

There’s a running joke in our family that I know where every bathroom is located in every store in town.  I can’t help it—shopping brings out the “best” in me!

One day last week, I was at a Family Dollar store with my sister. (I don’t normally shop there. Heck, I don’t normally shop anywhere.)  When the urge hit and I knew I was in trouble, I asked a store employee if there was a public restroom, and she told me to go through a stock room, turn left, and look for the WOMEN sign on the door.

I did so and was horrified at what they called a restroom. Truth is, I’d have been more comfortable squatting beside a bush or using a coffee can!  In the first picture, try not to focus on the empty TP roll and used paper towels on the floor. Also, ignore the puddle around the plunger.  Forget about the fact that there is not a lid on the tank.

Instead, focus on the handle you use to flush the toilet.  If you don’t see the handle, it’s because there isn’t one!  They have, however, cleverly attached a piece of plastic (from a store display). It’s on the right…it is long enough that it sticks out and is laying in the sink.

I especially like the sign on the wall behind the toilet…asking people to report water leaks. Somehow, I think flooding would be a welcome cleansing for this room.

My second reaction after how gross this bathroom was is maybe Depends don’t sound like such a bad idea after all! Thank goodness that bathroom didn’t belong to a restaurant cuz if that’s how a place the public sees looks, you don’t wanna know what’s goin’ on in their kitchen!

Hmmm. Depends… that may be a great idea, Ann! Although messing in my panties that day would have almost been a more pleasant experience than using that bathroom! 🙂

January 15 update: Someone from Family Dollar just called and apologized profusely for the condition of the restroom and told me the issues have been fixed. I assured him I would go check it out soon.

Kudos to Family Dollar for following up!
